Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Sheskharis oil terminal in Russia’s Krasnodar territory overnight on May 23, 2026, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Strikes Target Major Black Sea Oil Infrastructure
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the overnight operation hit the Sheskharis oil terminal located in Novorossiysk, resulting in confirmed strikes and active fires on the site. Operated as part of the PJSC Transneft system, Sheskharis ranks as one of Russia’s largest Black Sea oil terminals, handling export transshipments and supplying fuel for the Russian military. The facility features a throughput capacity of up to 75 million tonnes per year and a storage tank capacity of approximately 1.28 million cubic meters.
In the same area near Novorossiysk, Ukrainian forces also struck the Grushevaya transshipment oil depot, where fires were recorded. The Grushevaya depot functions as a key component of the Sheskharis complex, serving as one of the largest storage facilities in southern Russia with a total storage capacity between 1.2 and 1.4 million cubic meters.
Attacks on Shadow Fleet Tankers and Regional Logistics
Beyond the coastal terminal complexes, the General Staff confirmed that a strike hit the tanker CHRYSALIS in the waters of the Black Sea, targeting the basing area of Russia’s shadow fleet.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defenders struck enemy communications hubs in Krasnorichenske within the Luhansk region and in Smile within the Zaporizhia region. Operations also targeted a logistics supply warehouse in Frolovske, Zaporizhia region, and an ammunition depot in Prechystivka, Donetsk region.
