Applications for The Late Late Toy Show officially opened on Friday, August 21, 2026, as RTÉ launched its nationwide search for the next generation of child stars, toy demonstrators, and performers for the upcoming holiday broadcast, according to RTÉ Communications Lead Audrey Donohue.
Application Deadlines and How to Apply for the 2026 Toy Show
Families interested in putting forward a child can complete the application form online through the official RTÉ portal at RTÉ.ie/latelate, as reported by RTÉ. According to programme producers, the strict application deadline is midnight on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Host Patrick Kielty is returning to helm the annual holiday special, promising an evening of mischief, mayhem, and magical moments for viewers across Ireland and around the world.
Patrick Kielty and Producers Search for the Next Toy Show Sparkle
Producers are looking to cast youngsters who possess what the production team describes as a special Toy Show sparkle, whether they want to showcase the season’s must-have toys or deliver a major stage performance. “The stars of the Toy Show have always been our amazing kids. And this year we’re looking forward to them shining brighter than ever,” Kielty stated in an official announcement released by RTÉ. “So if you want to dream big and show Ireland and the world what you’ve got, the adventure starts here…”
Building on Viewership and Millions Raised for Charity
The 2026 search follows a highly successful previous outing. Last year’s Grinch-inspired edition drew an average television audience of 1.7 million across the weekend, alongside 642,000 additional streams on the RTÉ Player from domestic and international viewers. The broadcast featured more than 300 children taking part in toy demonstrations, book reviews, and performances. In addition to entertainment, the programme generated €4.6 million in public donations for the Toy Show Appeal, bringing the total raised by the charity initiative to €30 million since its inception to support charities that transform the lives of children and families across Ireland.
