Four Arrested After Attempted Murder Shooting Near Toulouse

Early Morning Gunfire Rouses Neighborhood

Residents in Pins-Justaret alerted the police-secours emergency line at 5:00 a.m. on August 22 after hearing a series of gunshots. Gendarmes from Muret responded to the scene and encountered several young adults who initially claimed the loud noises came from firecrackers. However, officers used flashlights to search the dark area and recovered a spent shell casing, prompting the immediate detention of the three young men present. After daylight broke, investigators discovered a bullet impact mark on a parked vehicle, according to local reporting.

Brothers Implicated in Family Dispute

Interrogations revealed that a violent altercation had occurred between two brothers prior to the arrival of law enforcement. While one brother was initially held at the scene, the suspected shooter fled. The 26-year-old older brother, described in reports as having an extensive criminal record primarily involving narcotics offenses, was apprehended hours later. Authorities subsequently seized a handgun, though investigators have not yet confirmed if it was the weapon used in the predawn shooting. The suspect is represented by attorney Sarah Nabet-Claverie of the Toulouse bar.

Ongoing Judicial Proceedings

The Toulouse public prosecutor confirmed the placement in custody of all four men, though officials declined further comment on the active inquiry. The investigation into attempted murder has been assigned to the Muret Research Brigade (BR), supported by the Toulouse Research Section (SR). The younger brother, aged 23 and released from prison two months prior to the incident, is represented by attorney Jacques Derieux. Authorities are continuing to investigate the underlying motives behind the confrontation between the siblings.
