The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) announced that the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship will take place in the United States and Canada from August 20 to September 5, 2027, marking the first time the tournament is hosted in North America.
Host Cities and Venues for the 2027 Tournament
According to official announcements, the tournament will feature 32 national teams playing across multiple venues in the United States, alongside host cities in Canada that will be announced at a later date. The U.S. host venues include the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha, Nebraska, and the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, which will both host group-stage matches and the Round of 16, according to tournament organizers. Meanwhile, the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, will host the tournament’s final week, including the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final match.
Olympic Qualification Path for LA28
The 2027 tournament carries added athletic significance under a revised qualification framework. According to tournament organizers, the competition serves as a direct qualifier for the Olympic Games, awarding three berths to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games (LA28) for the top-performing national teams that have not already qualified. Anaheim’s Honda Center will also serve as the indoor volleyball venue for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Organization and Broadcast Details
The historic North American tournament is jointly organized by USA Volleyball and Volleyball Canada through the local organizing committee WVWC27. Craig Thompson, CEO of the WVWC27 organizing committee, stated that the event will deliver extensive reach, noting that organizers plan for “57 hours of live coverage” with the final week anchored in the OCVIBE district. According to Volleyball World, all tournament matches will be broadcast live on its OTT streaming platform, VBTV.
