The unit is going to be unveiled at Microsoft’s Surface event in Shanghai on May 23rd. It’ll likely obtain a process refresh to Kaby Lake, based on journalist Paul Thurrott, boosting performance, battery existence and 4K video decoding forces. The pen and keyboard go for new color options, but otherwise, it will likely be much like its predecessor.
Microsoft will apparently not, however, to produce new Surface Book, Blass states, echoing a study from ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley in March. Based on the rumor mill, Microsoft might be focusing on a clamshell Surface Book with no removable screen, one with a removable screen, or even both. We’ll need to wait to discover more on that, however.
Microsoft VP Panos Panay lately stated that “there is no such factor like a Surface Pro 5,” and now that we know what he meant with that. Images from uber-leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) and the article in Venture Beat show a tool simply known as the top Pro, with no model or series number around the corner. Apart from rounded edges on screen, it strongly resembles the present Surface Pro 4, including the possible lack of a USB-C port.
